VTFAQ

Straight answers to fair questions.

If you’re deciding whether to trust a security tool with your code, you should get direct answers — including the ones that don’t flatter the product.

The product

What is VibeTect?

VibeTect is a desktop application from MSD TECHNOLOGIES LLC that checks software projects — especially ones built with AI coding assistants — for security problems such as exposed secrets, broken access control, unsafe authentication logic and risky configuration. You run it on your own computer, against a project folder on that computer.

Who is VibeTect for?

Founders shipping products built with AI app builders, developers who pair with AI assistants, small teams whose codebase grows faster than anyone can review it, and agencies delivering client projects. You don’t need to be a security specialist: findings are written in plain English, with the technical detail alongside for developers.

Does it only work on AI-generated code?

No. VibeTect inspects the code in your project regardless of who — or what — wrote it. It is designed around the mistakes AI assistants commonly make, but those same mistakes appear in human-written code too.

Which languages and frameworks are supported?

Supported languages, frameworks and checks will be listed for each release on the download page. If your stack matters to your decision, mention it when you request early access — it directly shapes what we prioritize.

Will VibeTect find every vulnerability?

No — and no tool can honestly promise that. Automated analysis is very good at catching common, high-impact mistakes quickly. It can’t understand every business rule, and it doesn’t see your live infrastructure. Treat VibeTect as a fast, thorough first line of review, not a guarantee, a certification or a replacement for a professional penetration test on high-risk systems.

Does VibeTect change my code?

Findings explain what’s wrong, why it matters and how to fix it, with guidance specific enough to apply yourself or hand to your AI assistant. You stay in control of every change to your code.

Privacy & security

Is my code uploaded anywhere?

VibeTect is built on local-first analysis: the desktop app inspects your project on your own machine, so your source code doesn’t need to be sent to our servers to be checked. The security & privacy page explains the model and its limits in detail.

Do I need to give VibeTect access to GitHub or GitLab?

No repository permissions are needed to analyze a project — you point the desktop app at a folder on your computer. If your code currently lives only inside a hosted AI app builder, export or sync it to your machine first.

Can I use it on client or proprietary code?

That is one of the main reasons local analysis matters. Because the inspection runs on your device, you can check code you aren’t permitted to share with third-party services. As always, follow your client agreements and your organization’s policies.

What can local analysis not see?

Anything that isn’t in the project folder: settings that exist only in a hosting or database dashboard, the behavior of your deployed environment, and secrets stored in services you haven’t checked out locally. Review those where they live, and for critical systems add a manual security review.

How do I report a security issue in VibeTect or this website?

Email security@vibetect.com. Disclosure details are on the security page and in security.txt.
